Glen Lake Girls

Some girlfriends from college and I all worked at Glen Lake Camp and Retreat Center for some summers and we still get together once a month to have dinner, sleepovers or play dates. In the group there are 8 children and 6 of them are girls.

At the beginning of this month we had a play date and got all the kids together (except for 1 who was with his grandparents) and got this cute picture. Don't we have adorable children?! The three babies were born within a few weeks of each other and Bella is the oldest, but used to be the smallest. Isn't it amazing how time changes things?

Another Tooth

It looks like we are getting another tooth! You can definitely tell that Grant and I are new parents because when she started eating less and sleeping more and being inconsolable we immediately thought something was wrong and took her to the doctor. Dr. Tom was very gracious and assured us, with out making us feel too silly, that everything is fine and that it was probably just the tooth. So much for being the star, laid back, new parents. :).

We did get new measurements while we were there. She is 18lb 15oz and I just did the math on what I thought her length was and there is no way she is 44" long. That would put her at 3' (right?). She's getting long, but not that long.

Bella still has no interest in crawling. She won't even stay up on her knees if I put her up on them. She immediately flattens herself out. She's getting pretty steady on her feet so the Dr. suggested maybe she won't crawl so we're going to start working on the walking and see if we have any better luck with that. Dr. Tom wasn't concerned that she wasn't crawling. He said her coordination seemed to be developing fine she may just be content to stay stationary. Maybe that is one downside of having such a content baby. Or is it a downside that I'm not having to chase her all over yet? Hmmm?

4th of July

For the 4th we went with our friends the Thomases to a ranch rodeo in Granbury and watched the fireworks afterward. Bella was Mesorized! Did you know that Granbury's fireworks show is rated the 9th best in the southwest? Here are some pics.

First Tooth

I can't believe I forgot to post that Bella's first tooth FINALLY poked through while we were at the beach! She was up several times the first night we were there and we just thought it was because we were in a new place, but now we think she was cutting that tooth. Poor thing!

Beach

We just got home from the beach last night. We went with Grant's family to the coast for a family vacation and had a great time!

We had quite the set up! Grant and his brother would set up tents for us every day so we would have shade and we kept all the food and coolers in the trailer. It was really nice. Someone commented that we all looked like ants. The men all got out and started putting up the tents while the women were corralling the kids and making sure they all had sunscreen on. Everyone had their jobs. I'm not sure what part Bella liked best about the sand. Playing in it or eating it. We were so fortunate because Bella just started sitting up by herself for extended periods of time the week before we left so we didn't have to worry about her falling over.
Most days Bella didn't get one of her naps, but this day we lucked out and she fell asleep accidentally.
It's amazing how much fun an empty bottle can be. She liked to pretend she was drinking it like the rest of us.
Our little Flower
I couldn't get Bella to go near the water the first day, but Grant got her in the second day. She wasn't sure about the waves and I don't blame her. They could really sneak up on you and catch her pretty high.
Family photo on the last day. We had a hard time getting Bella to wear her sunglasses. She enjoyed chewing on them much more.
Bella dancing with Daddy and Gran.
All of the cousins were great with Bella! They all played with her and wanted to hold her and gave her lots of attention (I'm going to be in trouble this week by myself). Henley was our little babysitter. She would sit with Bella on the bed while I would get our things ready for the beach or while I took a shower after we got back.
Grant's birthday was Saturday before last so we had a little celebration while the family was all together. The kids all made Grant cards and his dad gave him this hilarious one.

Weatherford Rodeo

We went to the Weatherford Rodeo last night with our friends Robb, Rebecca and Teegan. We decided we are spoiled with going to Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo, but it was still fun. Parking was a nightmare, but at least we had a good time while we were there.

We sat a little apart from the crowd so we had a nice breeze which made the heat more bearable. Bella did great! Even though the sun was a little bright at times.

Poor Baby

I took Bella to the doctor today for a cold and we ended up being treated for an ear infection (her first one) and wheezing. After two breathing treatments there, we are now proud owners of our own nebulizer and are doing breathing treatments on our own every 3-4 hours. Through it all the precious doll is still smiling and laughing (well, not during the breathing treatments) and being her usual jovial self. God has truly blessed us!
