Colonial

Bella and I went to the Colonial yesterday for the Pro Am. Of course she was quite the charmer with all of Grant's co-workers. It was hot, but she did great! She didn't get to stay and see, Kevin Jonas, she was very disappointed about that! :)

Amp 1 Basketball Game

Grant played in a charity basketball game on Saturday to benefit Camp Sanguinity a camp that supports kids with cancer or their siblings. Bob Ortegel, the voice of the Mavs came to MC the night. Grant said he could tell he hadn't played in a while, but he he played a great game. Bella and I are so proud!

Botanical Gardens

We packed a lunch today and were going to go to the zoo, but when we saw the line of cars waiting to get in we decided the Botanical Gardens sounded better.
Bella made a little friend who was dancing around in the background trying to make her smile. He was pretty impressed that she would smile at him.

I've started making some recipes for Bella from my baby food cookbook and she is really liking the flavors. I probably could just start pureeing some of the food we are eating for dinner now. We really haven't found anything she won't eat.

First Swim

After we got home from Lubbock we decided to walk down to our neighborhood pool to take Bella for her first swim. The water is still really cold so we only put her part way in, but she seemed to really like it!

Bekah's Graduation

We were in Lubbock this weekend watching my little sister, Bekah, graduate from Texas Tech. We are so proud of her! All of her hard work paid off.
Grandpa rode with us so Bella had a playmate for the 5 hour drive. I'm not sure what we're going to do in June when we go to the beach. Anyway, we got to Lubbock late on Friday night and we propped Bella up as we were getting things set up here is a picture of her propped up on the king size bed. She looked like a little dot on that big bed. She was so spoiled this weekend tomorrow is going to be a bear when she only has Mommy to entertain. :)

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was bitter sweet for me. What an honor to celebrate with all the wonderful moms I know and to have a precious baby to show for it, but I was missing my mother. I wish that she had been here to celebrate this special first with me.

The whole Harris clan was in Brownwood this weekend and it was good to be together. I love watching Bella's cousins interact with her. They adore her and treat her so special. She is going to be very spoiled I can tell!

Benadryl seems to be helping her nose a little bit, but it's still running and the eczema is still there although that doesn't seem to really bother her it just looks bad.

Children's Miracle Network

The coolest thing happened today! Bella and I were in Costco and they are raising money for Cook Children's Hospital through Children's Miracle Network so I made a donation. The cashier then showed me a picture and said, "This is what your money is going towards." The picture she showed me was that picture of Bella with her PaPa's hand next to her to show her size when she was first born! I couldn't believe it. When I told the cashier that was my daughter and the baby in my basket she got really excited and started telling all the employees around. The general manager came out and took Bella's picture so they would have "Then" and "Now" photos. It was really neat! I'm so proud!

This was all on the heels of an appointment at the Child Study Center where they were doing diagnostic testing on Bella to make sure she is developing properly. The tested her hearing, fine motor skills and gross motor skills. She is considered low risk so they don't need to see her for a year. Isn't God good!

We went to her regular pediatrician yesterday and she is now 17lb 3oz and 27-3/4 in. long. They said she is in the normal range for her age. He said her runny nose and eczema are allergies and to start giving her Benadryl and put cortizone cream on the eczema. If we can't get things under control that way we may have to do some allergy testing later when she gets a little older. We haven't seen a big change in her nose with the Benadryl, but the eczema seems to be looking better.

Little Things

Going down for naps is getting easier. I'm waiting a little later to put her down for each one and she's staying up a little later at night. Surely she still needs two naps. When she does go down she usually sleeps for about two hours in the AM and an hour in the PM and she falls asleep when we go for walks or are in the car around nap time.

We tried blueberries last night. They seemed to shock her at first, but then she seemed to really like them. She ate them again this morning for breakfast. The only problem is that they are really messy! Oh well, they are really good for her so I can clean up a mess and use lots of pre-wash treatment. :)

We go to the doctor on Thursday and I'm going to ask her about this rash or skin irritation she has. He skin gets bright red behind her knees as the day progresses and then she has little patches of bumps on her arms and under her chin. I think the spots under her chin are from being wet all the time. She is still slobbering like crazy and her nose is running, but no teeth. I guess this is just going to be a way of life for a while.
